The other day it was disclosed that Niagara Falls NY lost a 1 one billion dollar factory project that would have created 500 jobs in the Buffalo Niagara Falls metro and while I think Niagara Falls NY should focus on the tourist business, because the Niagara Falls Canada economy generate something like a billions dollars a year profit?  If they are not going to do the obvious and want to rebuild the industrial and chemical cess pool on the American side across from the Sky Scrapers on the Canadian side Niagara Falls NY USA missed a golden opportunity.

 It's one they should not have missed if you take into account Newton's laws of thermodynamics. ( That of the conversion of energy into heat loss). I saw a program on TV the other day and they stated that 85% of the hydro power generated on the Canadian side goes to the Toronto area and that 85% of the hydro electric power of the American side goes to NYC. The jest of this though is that while Toronto is located 70 miles away by land route and 50 miles by boat from Niagara Falls the amount of electric energy loss from transmitting and powering the Toronto Metro Area which stretches almost to Niagara falls NY is probably about a 5% loss. But on the NY American side the energy loss for transiting hydro power the 380 miles as the crow fly's or the 500 miles as the NYS thruway runs results in a at least 50% loss of energy by time it gets to NYC and Wall Street and probably more in the summer time.

So it is always 50% more efficient to use the cheap hydro electricity locally!

 NYC regularly buys extra power down state when it is needed it! So any redirection of hydro electric power to a new billion dollar plant in Niagara Falls that employees 500 people at maybe 40k a year per employee would always be the more prudent thing to do by Newton's laws. The laws of nature and also common sense. Instead the power authority choose to only guarantee the German company 1/2 of the cheap hydro power they required. Not to mention the 1/2 they wouldn't give them would have only been a total of 1/4  or less needed to be replaced by NYC at their end.

Here's the real shame since they are probably charging at the point of delivery the same amount of money per kilowatt hour as they do local they are netting a 50% less on every hydro kilowatt hour sold to NYC.

Also by diverting the power to NYC they are creating a 50%-70% rise in the carbon foot print, if not more by forcing us to burn coal from local coal power stations. So its 50-70 more pollution put in the air for each kilowatt  of hydro power sent to NYC.

So all these stock brokers and wall street tycoons and brokerage houses that wouldn't move out of NYC if their electric bill was a hundred times higher than it is now get low cost hydro electric power that cost 50% more to deliver to them than if use locally in  energy loss. Then add in transmission line repair, transformers, and all that stuff and it probably cost more like 70% more than if they brought it locally from PA, NY, CONN, and NJ.

Do we really need to subsidize Wall street with cheap power when they are handing out billions of dollars in Bonuses every year?

It seems to me they can pay full price to lite up them sky scrapers and it wouldn't do anything to their bottom line. Their electricity bills are like a flea on their back when your making money from nothing why are we subsiding them?

 The electricity that would have created 500 jobs in Niagara Falls  would have cost 1 NYC wall street job max!

Actually it would have cost no wall street jobs!

Lets charge full price for power sent down state to make up for the 70% higher cost and they should only be getting energy not needed by WNY and upstate!

The best thing is; that since the water flow and energy production is regulated by international treaty between Canada and the USA, the power authority and the state assembly that diverts these resources to NYC can be over ruled by the US congress as part of the economic stimulus plan or wall street bail out plan.

If Wall Street wants billions or trillions of dollars more.

 They should have to give up any calm to first rights on cheap Hydro electric power from Niagara Falls power projects!

This way we wouldn't be losing jobs to Tennessee and a Federal government agency, the TVA Tennessee Valley power Authority.
